[Collection of letters and other papers], 1812-1815.

Collection of letters and other papers concerning the administration of Eardley-Wilmot's property in the neighborhood of Alfreton, Derbyshire. Many of the letters are from William Wilson, Wilmot's agent there, or his son Joseph Wilson, and address such issues as meetings concerning enclosing waste lands in Alfreton; the partition of undivided farms; tenant disputes; and water shortage. Other items include lists of tenants with the amounts of their rents; accounts for repairs and improvements to the land; tax assessments; a map of the roads around Alfreton; and an auction notice for lots of land on the estate of Colonel Newell.

Eardley-Wilmot was a politician and author. He received his B.A. from University College at Oxford in 1769. He represented Tiverton, Devonshire in parliament, 1776-1784; and represented Coventry in Parliament, 1784-1796. In 1778, he wrote "Short Defense of the Opposition." In 1783, he was appointed to inquire into the claims of American Loyalists for their losses suffered during the war; and in 1790, organized the Freemason's Hall Committee for the relief of French refugees.
